Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has called on Muslim youths to embrace religious tolerance and uphold the true values of Islam in their daily lives.

Speaking on Saturday, November 1, 2025, Duale urged young Muslims to live harmoniously within the Kenyan society and reflect the positive teachings of their faith through their character and actions.

“And I want to beg you today, let us practice religious tolerance, let us live within the Kenyan society. Let us show the people, your colleagues in universities the better part of Islam,” he said.

The CS presided over this year's Grand Daawah Conference at Adams Mosque, Nairobi, organized by the Association of Muslims in Universities and Colleges in Kenya (AMUCK) and the Muslim Student Association of the University of Nairobi (MSAUN) under the theme, "Awakened Heart: The Journey of Believing Youth."

The conference sought to strengthen the Imaan of young Muslims and inspire them to live Islam as a complete way of life that nurtures both faith and personal growth.

Duale stressed that Islamic character is a fundamental pillar of the faith, noting that acts of worship alone are not enough if one’s behaviour contradicts the teachings of the Quran and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

“You can pray five times, you can fast, you can go to Hajj, you can pay Zakat, do everything, but if your character is not in tandem with the teachings of the Holy Quran and the Sunna of our Prophet… then the rest is useless,” he said.

He urged youths to reflect Islamic values in how they dress, speak, interact with others and what they share on social media.

Duale’s remarks come at a time when religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence remain central to national unity.

He encouraged the youth to be ambassadors of peace and mutual respect across all communities.

The Cabinet Secretary reaffirmed that character and conduct are essential in portraying the true image of Islam, beyond religious rituals and practices.

Present at the Grand Daawah Conference was Ag. Chief Kadhi, Sheikh Sukyan Omar Hassan, Jamia Mosque Imaam Sheikh Jamaludin Osman, Al Huda Mosque Imaam Sheikh Mbarak Ahmed Awes, the management of Adams Mosque and the leadership of (AMUCK) and (MSAUN) drawn from different universities across the country.
